Based on an instrument by Magno Tieffenbrucker in the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna (C.45)

Although the Tieffenbrucker  was converted into an archlute later the 17th century. Although the instrument may have been built as an eight course lute with a single pegbox, the  proportions of the body make it an ideal model on which to base nine and ten course lutes as it combines a comfortable string length with a neck that carries at least nine tied frets. I have two moulds for this model: one with 19 ribs (shown here), and another with 31 ribs as on the original. Prices for the the multi rib version are as follows  £5400 (plain)  £6000 (veneered)

From £4800
