Fourteen course archlute: six double courses on the lower neck, eight single basses.

The original instrument is in the collection of the Museo Civico Medievale, Bologna, no1748. The date on the label is unclear but it was made either in 1630 or 1639. It has 33 shaded yew ribs separated by ebony filets. My basic version has a back of 15 ribs of plain heartwood yew, separated by triple filets in the usual Sellas manner, though a multi rib version is also available. The neck and extension are either in plain beech or veneered in ebony. The soundboard has a single rose.
